AACI – September
The AACI return to Billing Aquadrome with the biggest American Car meeting in the UK!
The American Auto Club International (AACI) returns to Billing Aquadrome on the weekend of the 7th to the 9th September 2018, continuing a long tradition of American vehicle shows at the venue. With their last event of 2018, the AACI presents their season’s finale with the Late Summer Open Nationals.
As with every AACI event, there will be music, trade stands, fun things for the children to do, a bar and catering stands as well as all the amenities and facilities that are already at the Aquadrome.
The fun starts on Friday evening with music and a DJ in the main marquee from around 7.30pm. Live music will be provided by “Ready, Steady 60’s” from around 9pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, and don’t forget, all this entertainment is free of charge to you once you are there.
Saturday starts at 10am with music for all tastes provided by the now famous ‘Radio AACI’. Listen out for information and the odd prize-winning quiz throughout the day. Saturday is also a show and shine day, so if you have an American vehicle of any type, a car, van, truck, motorcycle or whatever you own, then put it on the show field. AACI judges will pick out a top three from the vehicles that are displayed that day and trophies for the winners will be presented at around 3pm. On Saturday night, the AACI will be paying tribute to the late Jerry Reed, who passed away almost ten years ago to the day. The club are inviting anyone who wants to join in to come as their favourite character from the movie Smokey and The Bandit, which of course starred Reed alongside Burt Reynolds. Live music will be provided by six piece covers band, “Harley’n’Dutch”.
As with all American vehicle events in the UK, Sunday is the main show and shine day. The show fields will be filling up with American vehicles of all shapes and sizes, usually from quite early in the morning and definitely before the music starts again at 10am. Judging takes place throughout the day and trophies are presented at around 3.30pm. Be sure to listen out for updates and information on the day.
It’s a great day out for all the family. There really is something for everyone. You don’t need to own an American car, you just need to turn up and take in one of the longest running vehicle traditions in the UK.
